Bryce Florie is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and a graduate of Hanahan High School. Florie was named the 1988 South Gatorade Player of the year for South Carolina and was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 5th round of the 1988 MLB draft. Florie was also inducted into the Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
Florie spent 6 seasons in the minor leagues before being called up to the Padres in 1994 and was named Texas League All Star in 1993 and San Diego Padres minor league player of the year. Florie spent nearly eight seasons in the big leagues with the Padres, Brewers, Tigers and Red Sox organizations.
After eye and elbow injuries finished his playing career in the minor leagues, Florie began his coaching tenure. Florie spent a total of 18 years in a professional uniform.
Florie has coached the last 13 years at the high school level as Head Coach at Northwood Academy. He was the recognized as the AAA Coach of the Year in 2015. Florie has also coached 14 years in the Diamond Devils Organization.
Florie is married to his wife, Lynn, and they have two daughters Avery (9) and Emersyn (7). He also helps coach little league with his girls along with basketball at the rec league level.
