Coach Matt Spivey is entering his 5th year as Head Baseball Coach at James Island Charter High School (2018 - present).  Prior to being a head coach, Spivey spent time as an assistant learning from two Hall of Fame coaches, Burt Bazzle and Tom Hatley, who both won over 500 games each at Summerville High and James Island Charter, respectively.  Currently, Spivey has been a coach with the Diamond Devils on 17u Black (Rhodes) for the past 6 summer and fall seasons.

Prior to his coaching days, Spivey played baseball at Summerville High School where his 2003 team won a state championship. While in high school, Spivey played in the Diamond Devils organization for Coach Rhodes. Upon graduating high school, Coach Spivey attended and played at the University of South Carolina Aiken for four years.
